December 1st is here!

Well the big day has come and went and after the dust has settled, I've been accepted to Boston University and Tufts University. Its a start, but I'm still waiting to hear from VCU, UW and Columbia. Hopefully I won't have to wait long. If you're reading this, please put me out of my misery and just accept me already! ;)

More to Come,
Bjorn

  1. Hey, I was wondering if i could ask you a few questions. First off, let me start by just saying I got denied from every school I applied to; two of which were Tufts and BU. I am curious about your DAT scores and also your GPA. Did you apply with just a undergrad degree? If you did, what major and school?
    Thanks

  2. Well Kyle, I'm sorry to hear about your bad luck this cycle. Since you're curious, I got a 21AA, 3.2 gpa, BA in biology from uva. Not exactly the most impressive grades, but they were in a very competitive class and I rocked my DAT. I didn't have to do a masters program. Whats your situation? Are you thinking of applying again next year?

  3. Well I spoke with someone from BU and they said basically at this point I should go for a Masters. I bombed the DAT 16AA; but I got 24PA and 25RA I thought that would stand out but obviously not. My GPA is a 3.4 but i guess the real problem was the DAT. I applied for a masters of medical science at BU and now I'm looking for masters in Biochemistry. I'll probably apply again after I get that degree.

  4. my honest opinion is that masters programs are something you do to occupy your time WHILE you apply again. They can help you gpa, but yours isnt too bad. I would take the DAT again this summer, destroy it and apply THIS year... but thats easier said than done.

  5. See I understand what your saying and that's what I planned on doing. The person from BU told not to waste my time taking the DAT since I've already took it twice. He said to get a masters and when applying, ask the specific schools if they would like me to take the DAT again.

  6. I think there is a minimum score for each section on DAT that schools require... have you checked it?

  7. Ya I checked and I made the minimum for some schools but that didn't help.

  8. what about the requirement for classes?
Btw, BU cares about DAT more than GPA as you see their average DAT and GPA, so if I were you, I would take DAT again.. Shoot for at least 18 or 19.

  9. Well I have been accepted into BU's Master of Medical Science Oral Health Track. With this program, you get a masters degree in a year and are guaranteed an interview with BU. So Lets hope this program works out.
